Government of Wales Bill

I do not intend to carry the debate any further tonight. We will probably have an opportunity to do so at a later stage in our proceedings. I can say only that I find it extraordinary that those who plead for devolution, who demand that the Assembly should have more powers and more authority and who suggest that, when it comes to all the important decisions, the Assembly should decide, have so little faith in the Assembly or in the judgment of the Welsh people. They talk about democracy but they are denying democracy to the people of Wales. I think that it is a shameful position and I will come back to this matter at a later date, but now I beg leave to withdraw the amendment. Amendment, by leave, withdrawn. [Amendment No. 79 not moved.]
