Proceeding contribution from Baroness Byford (Conservative) in the House of Lords on Wednesday, 14 June 2006. It occurred during Debate on bill and Committee proceeding on Animal Welfare Bill.

Animal Welfare Bill

I am very grateful for that response. The Minister is refreshingly very practical in his approach. We are not saying that inspections should go. My question was—I repeat—““Who are these inspectors?””. Will they be some of the existing inspectors that work for the RPA, the SVS or the Environment Agency, or will there be totally separate inspectors, who are only there because of the part that deals with local authorities?
