Proceeding contribution from David Gauke (Conservative) in the House of Commons on Monday, 8 January 2007. It occurred during Debate on bill on Statistics and Registration Service Bill.

Statistics and Registration Service Bill

I, too, am grateful to the Financial Secretary for his generosity in accepting interventions. However, he was unable to give my hon. Friend the Member for Ludlow (Mr. Dunne) an example of a Government policy that was announced as a result of access to statistics prior to their release. He prayed in aid the Treasury Committee report, which recommends that"““ministers receive pre-release access on the day prior to release, after the markets have closed””." We are therefore discussing limited pre-release access, and not the 40 hours allowed under the Bill.
