Proceeding contribution from Julia Goldsworthy (Liberal Democrat) in the House of Commons on Monday, 8 January 2007. It occurred during Debate on bill on Statistics and Registration Service Bill.
Statistics and Registration Service Bill
Does the hon. Lady agree that it is not only the content of statistics but the timing of their release that undermines trust? For instance, a spate of reliable but damaging statistics can be undermined by the fact that they are all released at the same timeājust before Parliament goes into recess for Christmas? It is not just the content of the statistics but their timing that undermines the trust of the wider public.
