Proceeding contribution from Lord Hunt of Wirral (Conservative) in the House of Lords on Tuesday, 9 January 2007. It occurred during Committee of the Whole House (HL) and Debate on bill on Legal Services Bill [HL].
Legal Services Bill [HL]
I am slightly bemused because I heard the noble Baroness say that we should not put in the Bill something that might change; there might be other ways of making appointments. I remind the Minister that the amendment refers to people being appointed on merit, "““in accordance with the principles appearing to them to represent the best practice in making appointments””." That is not going to change.
