Proceeding contribution from Baroness Ashton of Upholland (Labour) in the House of Lords on Thursday, 22 March 2007. It occurred during Debate on Human Rights.

Human Rights

My Lords, noble Lords can go on the website to find some fantastic material which tells in documentary form the history of what happened, the rebellions that took place and what happened in the different countries. All the correspondence and documents have been brought together; I am also proud of the fact that we have produced a lot of material for children in schools, which will be of enormous value. Across government, we are meeting with amazing contributions from different departments, not only to commemorate, but also to look forward and to recognise the contributions that different communities have made. I recommend a book produced by the Department of Health which celebrates the contribution of the Afro-Caribbean community to the National Health Service over many years—perhaps, particularly over the past 50 or 60 years.
