Proceeding contribution from Lord Bassam of Brighton (Labour) in the House of Lords on Tuesday, 12 June 2007. It occurred during Committee of the Whole House (HL) and Debate on bill on Offender Management Bill.

Offender Management Bill

I have considered carefully what the noble Lord has said. I love the way in which he left the door wide open for himself to take a different view if, on having received some reassurance from our perspective, he did not necessarily agree with it. I undertake to see what we can find to satisfy the noble Lord’s point. Whether or not it will be in the form of a draft, at this stage I am not prepared to commit, but I hear what the noble Lord says and I can understand why he might want some further measure of comfort and reassurance. I am grateful to him for raising this interesting debate.
