Proceeding contribution from Baroness Stern (Crossbench) in the House of Lords on Tuesday, 12 June 2007. It occurred during Committee of the Whole House (HL) and Debate on bill on Offender Management Bill.
Offender Management Bill
I thank the noble Baroness for her response; however, I am slightly unenthusiastic about it. I should have liked her to say that the Government would like to see a situation in which there was never an under 21 year-old in Wandsworth prison. It is not the right place for them. But I understand the realities of life, especially at the moment, and I am happy to beg leave to withdraw the amendment. Amendment, by leave, withdrawn. Clause 31 [Conversion of sentence of detention to sentence of imprisonment]:
