One thing that I did not make clear was that LINks will be able to enter and view only communal areas of residential care homes and residential nursing homes. However, I take the noble Baroness’s point—there may not be lots of LINks visits, but people go into care homes for many different reasons, not least CSCI inspectors, who make unannounced visits. It is a question of getting a balance between being able to offer the sort of insight and potential protection for vulnerable people and not overburdening hard-working and dedicated staff and taking them away from their front-line responsibilities.
