The Home Secretary stated:"““The fit and proper person requirement primarily involves establishing””" among other things,"““that identity . . . checks have been completed””." Will the Home Secretary explain how an identity check does not show immigration status and whether the person identified has a work permit? Surely we identify somebody so that we know what they are about, yet at least one in 10—possibly one in five—security personnel work illegally.
