Proceeding contribution from Lord Mackenzie of Framwellgate (Labour) in the House of Lords on Friday, 30 November 2007. It occurred during Debate on bill on House of Lords Bill [HL].
House of Lords Bill [HL]
My Lords, I agree, and I am delighted that it was not the noble Earl. It is another way of excluding Members and I thought that he might pick up the point. I have always found it difficult to explain to others why a Member who is declared bankrupt could be named and shamed in this House but that one who goes to prison could not. For that reason, the position needs clarifying. I am running out of time, so I say simply that I commend the Bill to your Lordships.
