Fuel Poverty

I certainly agree with my hon. Friend that Ofgem, and indeed the Government, must do more to make social tariffs a wider reality. If I have the opportunity, I shall refer to that subject in more detail in a few minutes. My hon. Friend points out that the trend for the number of people in fuel poverty, having been on the downward slope for several years, is going up again quite rapidly. That is why we need new measures to launch a new attack on fuel poverty. I shall suggest some ways in which we can do so, and I shall draw on the recommendations of a report to which I referred. I thank all those who contributed to the ideas that I shall outline.
