Proceeding contribution from Lord Redwood (Conservative) in the House of Commons on Monday, 21 January 2008. It occurred during Debate on bill on European Union (Amendment) Bill.

European Union (Amendment) Bill

I will not, because other hon. Members wish to speak. I urge the House tonight not to surrender those powers but to strike a blow to restore trust in politics, and to show the public that we are prepared to stand up to an over-mighty Executive, who do damage to us but give in at every conceivable opportunity in Europe. That is what is destroying politics. We need to start restoring trust.
