Proceeding contribution from Jim Murphy (Labour) in the House of Commons on Monday, 21 January 2008. It occurred during Debate on bill on European Union (Amendment) Bill.

European Union (Amendment) Bill

What is clear is that we have an opportunity this evening to vote for a Bill that gives more powers to this place. In voting for the treaty, we are giving the power to recognise the important rights of national Parliaments across the European Union. Again, that is an important, moderate improvement in the rules of the EU.
