Members' Salaries, Pensions and Allowances

I am very sorry; I did not intend any rudeness towards my hon. Friend, who is a pioneer in the field. I am sure that Sir John Baker will be made fully aware of his remarks this afternoon. My hon. Friend the Member for Hendon (Mr. Dismore) spoke about the issues facing London Members. I would point out that implementing the SSRB's proposals for London Members would mean that they would receive an increase in their salaries of 2.9 per cent.— way beyond what is acceptable in the public sector.
