Proceeding contribution from Lord Darling of Roulanish (Labour) in the House of Commons on Monday, 18 February 2008. It occurred during Ministerial statement on Northern Rock.

Northern Rock

I know that the hon. Gentleman was trying to be helpful to his party, but I have to remind him of what the shadow Chancellor said in November last year—[Interruption.] I am quite sure that Conservative Members do not want to hear this, Mr. Speaker. When administration was being discussed, the shadow Chancellor said:"““The winding up of the bank would pose a significant risk to taxpayers' money…and, of course, significant risks to the jobs of those people who work for Northern Rock””." I could not have put it better myself.
