Proceeding contribution from Austin Mitchell (Labour) in the House of Commons on Tuesday, 26 February 2008. It occurred during Debate on bill and Committee of the Whole House (HC) on European Union (Amendment) Bill.

European Union (Amendment) Bill

That raises the question of the Liberal Democrats' proposals for a referendum. Incidentally, if those proposals were applied to Scotland they would require a referendum not on devolution, but on the 1707 treaty of Union. But the question to ask about the common fisheries policy is ““Does the Liberal Democratic party support it, as a whole, or does it not?””
