Legislative Reform (Health and Safety Executive) Order 2008

I declare my interest as the vice-chairman of the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents and as president of the National Health Safety Groups Council and the London Health Safety Groups Council. I met Judith Hackett, who is the chair of the Health and Safety Commission, and the president and the vice-president of the Health and Safety Executive, who all asked me to thank the Government for the order, which I believe is the handiwork of Bill Callaghan, the previous chair of the commission. The order is the second to have been made on the subject; the first was found to be defective by the councils and the chairmen. Anyway, we at last have it. It will not have been enacted before the Easter Recess, but it is on its way, and we congratulate the Government on it.
