Proceeding contribution from Lord Tebbit (Conservative) in the House of Lords on Monday, 21 April 2008. It occurred during Debate on bill on Criminal Justice and Immigration Bill.

Criminal Justice and Immigration Bill

My Lords, I thank the Minister, but I still do not think that he has understood quite what I said to him. Under the existing law—because I am aware that this Bill has not yet been enacted—there is guidance. I make no reference to individual cases; I merely ask if the noble Lord is satisfied that the existing guidance is proper, adequate and effective. He must be able to say yes or no to that question.
