Proceeding contribution from Lord Pearson of Rannoch (UK Independence Party) in the House of Lords on Tuesday, 22 April 2008. It occurred during Committee of the Whole House (HL) and Debate on bill on European Union (Amendment) Bill.
European Union (Amendment) Bill
Well, we will see. It depends on what it says. But under the strict terms of this amendment—I know that the Lord President is keen that we should stick to the amendments now as we wandered a bit before dinner—I ask the party whether it still wishes to repatriate social and labour policy after it wins the next election and how it proposes to do it. I fear that the length of this amendment will depend on the answers to those two questions—one to the Government and the other to my former noble friends. I beg to move.
