Proceeding contribution from Brooks Newmark (Conservative) in the House of Commons on Monday, 28 April 2008. It occurred during Debate on bill and Committee of the Whole House (HC) on Finance Bill.

We might quip that the way in which to create a small business under new Labour is to start with a big business. However, on a more serious note, let me say that my right hon. Friend has not touched on another important issue. One of the hallmarks of new Labour has been the chopping and changing, but what businesses like is consistency. Only through consistency of policy, particularly tax policy, can they thrive.
