Proceeding contribution from Baroness Hollis of Heigham (Labour) in the House of Lords on Wednesday, 7 May 2008. It occurred during Debate on bill on Child Maintenance and Other Payments Bill.
Child Maintenance and Other Payments Bill
My Lords, I am reassured to some extent by my noble friend’s helpful remarks. Would he be able to go further, perhaps at Third Reading, and insert in Clause 2(2) after the words, "““supported by the following subsidiary objectives””," such words as, ““following information and advice to encourage and support””? That would lock in the information and advice service before a decision is made and would be, I think, consistent with his position.
