Proceeding contribution from Dennis Skinner (Labour) in the House of Commons on Friday, 13 June 2008. It occurred during Debate on bill on Health and Safety (Offences) Bill.
Health and Safety (Offences) Bill
I apologise for not being here earlier, but we on the Labour party’s national executive committee have been discussing, one with another, the vanity ballot that will take place some time in July in Haltemprice. I had a case a few years ago involving a young lad who had a finger cut off by wood-cutting machine in Clumber park. No action was taken, despite all our efforts, because we were told that the owner of the machine was not worth pursuing, as he did not have any money. Is there any way in which such action could be taken under the auspices of the Bill that my right hon. Friend the Member for Streatham (Keith Hill) has introduced?
