Proceeding contribution from Baroness Smith of Malvern (Labour) in the House of Commons on Tuesday, 21 October 2008. It occurred during Opposition day on Immigration Controls.

Immigration Controls

I am coming on to how precisely we have introduced a system that will enable us to be flexible and to meet the needs of the economy and the people of this country, unlike Conservative Members. E-borders is already delivering results and it is keeping people whom we do not want in Britain out. These checks make up just one part of Britain's triple ring of border security alongside fingerprint checks abroad and tougher enforcement in-country.
