Proceeding contribution from Chris Huhne (Liberal Democrat) in the House of Commons on Tuesday, 21 October 2008. It occurred during Opposition day on Immigration Controls.

Immigration Controls

I am grateful to my hon. Friend for that intervention. He certainly has a lot of expertise in the matter of Estonians, in particular—[Interruption.] I know that those on the Conservative Front Bench have a particular expertise in the matter of Etonians, but that is a different issue. My hon. Friend's point is absolutely correct. Many of the central and eastern European migrants who have come here have done so in order to build up a nest egg and to go home, start a business and make a contribution to the extraordinary and praiseworthy growth of those economies.
