Proceeding contribution from Robert Neill (Conservative) in the House of Commons on Thursday, 20 November 2008. It occurred during Ministerial statement on Safeguarding Children.
Safeguarding Children
The Secretary of State is right to stress the importance of political and managerial accountability. In the interests of ensuring that there are the clearest possible lines of accountability, will he assure the House that in all local authorities direct responsibility for front-line children's services is with the authority's director of children's services, rather than it being shared in any other way with any other department?
