Proceeding contribution from Edward Leigh (Conservative) in the House of Commons on Wednesday, 25 March 2009. It occurred during Opposition day on Iraq War Inquiry.
Iraq War Inquiry
Does my right hon. Friend share my sadness at the fact that the reason why we need a full Falklands-type inquiry is because our Select Committees are so weak? Under the Osmotherly rules, we cannot insist on particular officials appearing before a Committee and we cannot look at advice given to Ministers, and our Select Committees are therefore not strong enough, unlike congressional committees.
