Proceeding contribution from Baroness Hamwee (Liberal Democrat) in the House of Lords on Monday, 11 May 2009. It occurred during Debate on bill and Committee proceeding on Business Rate Supplements Bill.
Business Rate Supplements Bill
The noble Baroness's comments on Amendments 9 and 10 were helpful. I had not intended Amendment 32 to be restrictive. It was designed to assist ratepayers in assessing what they are being asked to sign up to. I was not proposing a particular model; I used the phrase, ""whether a special purpose vehicle was to be formed"," not that it should be. I should like to think about that, but, for now, I beg leave to withdraw Amendment 8. Amendment 8 withdrawn. Amendments 9 to 11 not moved. Clause 3 agreed. Amendment 12 not moved.
