The famous Swan-Kay-Lane case in 1965 possibly took place before he was born. At that time, the level of wages was very low indeed. While premiership football is highly paid and resistant to that type of approach, most other levels of football—both here and elsewhere—have significantly lower pay levels, which makes them more open to the opportunities, threats and temptations.
