The Gambling Commission's employee Code of Conduct and employment contracts provide the Commission with the ability to manage conflicts of interest. We have no plans to review the number of staff leaving the Gambling Commission to work in the gambling industry, or the length of appropriate restricted periods for conflicts of interest. The Gambling Commission regularly reviews employee turnover, and should any trends be identified, they have confirmed these will be reviewed as necessary. The Commission’s Corporate Governance Framework requires former employees to maintain safeguards against conflicts of interest for six months after their departure.

However, one individual from a director level role, two individuals from operational level roles and one individual at executive level have left the Gambling Commission to work in the gambling industry. Andrew Rhodes is subject to confidentiality obligations and post-employment restrictions, including limits on the use of confidential information and on engagement with matters connected to his previous responsibilities. These restrictions are designed to prevent conflicts of interest and protect the integrity of the Commission’s work. These restrictions apply to all Gambling Commission employees.
In line with these obligations and contractual terms, any services that Andrew Rhodes provides will relate only to countries, territories, or legal jurisdictions that fall outside the Gambling Commission’s regulatory remit for a restricted contractual period of 6 months from resignation.
