Proceeding contribution from Shahid Malik (Labour) in the House of Commons on Tuesday, 9 June 2009. It occurred during Adjournment debate on Council Tax Capping (Surrey).
Council Tax Capping (Surrey)
Having been in this job for five minutes, I apologise that that was not at the top of the priority list for my briefing this morning. I am sure that I will be briefed on that in due course. The hon. Gentleman will understand why I have not had such a briefing. If we accept Surrey's estimate for the re-billing costs and add it to the £1.6 million budget reduction that it is required to make due to capping, the total is £2.8 million.
