Proceeding contribution from Tobias Ellwood (Conservative) in the House of Commons on Thursday, 18 June 2009. It occurred during Topical debate on Preparing Britain's Economy for the Future.

Preparing Britain's Economy for the Future

I was wondering how you were going to respond to that, Mr. Deputy Speaker. I begin by sharing my concerns about how few Members are gathered here for this debate. This is one of the more important subjects for us to debate at present, but I count just one hon. Member on the Labour Benches and absolutely nobody representing the Liberal Democrats other than their Front-Bench spokesman. That is an appalling indictment, when efforts should be made to understand what is going on in the economy and to try to provide the answers that the nation wants to hear.
