Proceeding contribution from David Winnick (Labour) in the House of Commons on Wednesday, 24 June 2009. It occurred during Opposition day on Iraq Inquiry.
Iraq Inquiry
I was one of those many Labour Members who urged last week that the inquiry should be as public as possible. That is right and proper. I believe that I spoke after the right hon. Gentleman in the debate just before we went into war. He was speaking from the Back Benches. I stand by my vote at that time, on the basis that the chief weapons inspector had not said that he was satisfied that all the weapons of mass destruction had been destroyed. On that basis, I voted for war. Does he stand by his vote?
