Proceeding contribution from Lord Cormack (Conservative) in the House of Commons on Tuesday, 30 June 2009. It occurred during Debate on bill and Committee of the Whole House (HC) on Parliamentary Standards Bill.
Parliamentary Standards Bill
It is far better. I ask the Secretary of State: what is the difference between a code and a rule? If, as he seemed to imply—at least, that was what I inferred from what he said—there is not a difference, then why persist with it? The other, and far more important point, which my right hon. Friend the Member for North-West Hampshire raised in his amendment, is that clause 5(8) should be deleted. It really should.
