National Assembly for Wales (Legislative Competence) (Welsh Language)
Does that not reflect the evolving role of the Welsh Affairs Committee? It was set up to do a certain job. No one envisaged that LCOs would exist when the Committee was set up, but it has done a splendid job in this situation. We are looking forward to the future but, because the make-up of Select Committees is worked out on the basis of elections throughout the United Kingdom, sadly, we might find ourselves in the dire situation of a Welsh Select Committee charged with and doing the job manned—and womanned—by a majority of MPs from outside Wales who would have no knowledge of Wales. That would be nonsense in the future and—
