Proceeding contribution from Lord Hain (Labour) in the House of Commons on Wednesday, 14 October 2009. It occurred during Debates on delegated legislation on National Assembly for Wales (Legislative Competence) (Welsh Language).
National Assembly for Wales (Legislative Competence) (Welsh Language)
Mr. Jones, may I respond to my hon. Friend? I have not said before that the Welsh Affairs Committee has not only performed a fantastic job on this LCO but that it also has a heavy legislative burden, as my hon. Friend the Member for Ynys Môn said, that was never envisaged. It is performing its task valuably and with distinction, and its members are working extremely hard as we pile ever more LCOs on their table. We have an agreed framework in place and I look forward to hearing the views of Members from across the political spectrum. I will reflect on what is said today before agreeing with the First Minister a final draft order. I hope to agree that as soon as possible, so that both the Assembly and the House are able to debate the final draft before Christmas.
