Proceeding contribution from Mike Penning (Conservative) in the House of Commons on Thursday, 29 October 2009. It occurred during Topical debate on Fireworks Safety.

Fireworks Safety

I apologise for being slightly late for the start of the debate. As a former fireman whose life was blighted regularly each year by fireworks, I ask the Minister to look not only at MPs' postbags but at the injuries caused, especially to young people and those who think that they are in control of themselves, but are not, especially if they have had a drink. The injuries are horrific, and our accident and emergency departments are still full of people injured by themselves and others by means of fireworks.
