Proceeding contribution from Cheryl Gillan (Conservative) in the House of Commons on Wednesday, 14 October 2009. It occurred during Debates on delegated legislation on National Assembly for Wales (Legislative Competence) (Welsh Language).

National Assembly for Wales (Legislative Competence) (Welsh Language)

May I say to my hon. Friend that the Pavlov’s dog reactions from the other side of the room are hypocritical? I know that everyone around here shares my hon. Friend’s sentiments. There is no way that we want the Welsh language to be used as a barrier to doing business in Wales. If Labour Members want the Welsh language to be a barrier, they can rush ahead. We want to give it careful thought, evaluate it and then get the right legislation, which will support businesses and open Wales for business, not close it. My hon. Friend is absolutely right about that and has my 100 per cent. support.
