Proceeding contribution from Alun Michael (Labour) in the House of Commons on Wednesday, 14 October 2009. It occurred during Debates on delegated legislation on National Assembly for Wales (Legislative Competence) (Welsh Language).

National Assembly for Wales (Legislative Competence) (Welsh Language)

I am grateful to the hon. Gentleman for giving way. The strength of the message that I received from listening to the Catalan Government was the fact that, with the framework of legislation behind them, they put the effort into building consensus in exactly the way in which the development of Welsh language education has happened in our schools in Wales. There is a lesson from our own history, as well as from Catalan history.
