Proceeding contribution from Lord Watson of Wyre Forest (Labour) in the House of Commons on Wednesday, 7 April 2010. It occurred during Debate on bill and Committee of the Whole House (HC) on Digital Economy Bill [Lords].

Digital Economy Bill [Lords]

My right hon. Friend suggested that I was making the case that the clause was a sledgehammer to crack a nut. That is not true. I understand the magnitude of the problem. I am making the case that the clause is a steamroller, crushing any democratic accountability that the House may claim to have. Given that we have so little time, however, I beg to ask leave to withdraw the amendment. Amendment, by leave, withdrawn.
