Proceeding contribution from Lord Beith (Liberal Democrat) in the House of Commons on Friday, 25 September 2009. It occurred during Grand Committee proceedings (HC) on Regional Economy (Tackling the Recession).

Regional Economy (Tackling the Recession)

Returning to Corus, which the hon. Member for Stockton, South (Ms Taylor) raised earlier when she mentioned the state aid rules, am I right in thinking that the relevant state aid rules have been suspended during the recession, and that the Government’s decision not to go down the state aid route reflects their belief that there is a more cost-effective way of dealing with the problem, which she recognised as a serious one?
