Proceeding contribution from Ed Davey (Liberal Democrat) in the House of Commons on Tuesday, 20 July 2010. It occurred during Adjournment debate on University Funding (Yorkshire).

University Funding (Yorkshire)

I am sure that my right hon. Friend the Minister for Universities and Science will want to reflect on those remarks, because we will be searching for new revenue streams. It is incumbent on this Government to do so as we make some difficult decisions about public funding. The hon. Gentleman's comment is therefore very helpful. The university of Huddersfield is exceedingly expert in that area and has a unique nano-lab facility. As he was saying, that shows the great research facilities that are in the Yorkshire higher education institutions and how they benefit when they work together either across Yorkshire or, indeed, the N8 group more broadly across the north.
