Proceeding contribution from Baroness Hodge of Barking (Labour) in the House of Commons on Tuesday, 30 November 2010. It occurred during Opposition day on School Sports Funding.

School Sports Funding

Does my right hon. Friend agree that what we are witnessing in the House today is either a complete failure of joined-up government or sheer hypocrisy by the Government? We have just seen the launch of the public health White Paper, which says that one of the Government's aims is to take"““better care of our children's health and development””," which could ““improve educational attainment,”” yet now we are debating the cutting of a proven programme that does just that. Is that not sheer hypocrisy?
