Proceeding contribution from Tom Greatrex (Labour) in the House of Commons on Monday, 7 March 2011. It occurred during Debate on bill and Committee of the Whole House (HC) on Scotland Bill.

Scotland Bill

We have had an interesting debate on these issues. I would just note again that, if there had been a proposal for a four-year fixed-term Parliament, none of this would have been a problem. That would probably have been a more sensible route to take, and it is still open to the Government to deal with that matter again in the weeks to come. In the light of what the Minister has said, we will withdraw the amendment at this stage and perhaps reflect on the matter again on Report. I beg to ask leave to withdraw the amendment. Amendment, by leave, withdrawn. Clause 2 ordered to stand part of the Bill.
