Proceeding contribution from Bernard Jenkin (Conservative) in the House of Commons on Monday, 14 March 2011. It occurred during Ministerial statement on Japan and the Middle East.
Japan and the Middle East
I really think that my right hon. Friend deserves congratulations on the fact that a fortnight ago he was virtually a lone voice in floating the idea of a no-fly zone, and now he has the support of the Arab League and France. What exactly went on at the European Council? Who was Baroness Ashton speaking for? What mandate does she have to give her opinions? Should she not serve the member states of the European Union rather than pretending to lead them?
