Proceeding contribution from Lord Spicer (Conservative) in the House of Lords on Monday, 18 July 2011. It occurred during Debate on bill and Debate on select committee report on Finance (No. 3) Bill.
Finance (No. 3) Bill
My noble friend is making a very important speech, and I am particularly struck by what he is saying about inflation. Will he accept that the problem with inflation is that it can get out of control, that it becomes cumulative? I wonder whether he had in mind any figure of inflation at which that might occur. My own view is that it is between 5 and 7 per cent, but I wonder what his view is.
