Proceeding contribution from George Eustice (Conservative) in the House of Commons on Monday, 24 October 2011. It occurred during Backbench debate on National Referendum on the European Union.

National Referendum on the European Union

I was about to come on to precisely that. I do not accept the argument that nothing can be done until there has been an intergovernmental conference or a new treaty. Where there is the political will, there is always a way, and where needs must, the EU has shown itself able to react quickly and then sort out the lawyers and the legal basis for action later.
