Proceeding contribution from Lord Dholakia (Liberal Democrat) in the House of Lords on Monday, 12 December 2011. It occurred during Ministerial statement on European Council.
European Council
My Lords, I thank the noble Lord for repeating the Statement in your Lordships’ House. I have two questions. First, the decision taken by the Prime Minister requires not just a Statement but an early debate in your Lordships’ House. Will the Leader of the House consult the usual channels so that such a debate can take place well before the Christmas Recess? Secondly, the Chancellor is reported to have said that, "““his officials were putting unprecedented effort into planning for all eventualities””." Will the Leader make available information to indicate how the interests of the City of London are to be protected?
