Proceeding contribution from Adam Afriyie (Conservative) in the House of Commons on Thursday, 15 December 2011. It occurred during Backbench debate on Parliamentary Standards Act 2009.
Parliamentary Standards Act 2009
That is absolutely right. The right hon. Gentleman could have been a member of the Committee, because that was exactly the attitude adopted by every member throughout. We asked ourselves, ββCan we, with our recommendations, improve the transparency and the accountability to the public beyond what is being offered under the current regime?ββ That was exactly the direction of travel and I urge the right hon. Gentleman to have a good look through the 19 recommendations, because he will see that we seek to address that issue.
