Proceeding contribution from David TC Davies (Conservative) in the House of Commons on Thursday, 20 October 2011. It occurred during Grand Committee proceedings (HC) on Work Programme (Wales).
Work Programme (Wales)
Will my hon. Friend cast his mind back to when the entire country was on strike and on the brink of bankruptcy in 1979 before Mrs Thatcher took office? I am very proud of the legacy of Mrs Thatcher in transforming the economy into a modern, outward-looking, export-driven one rather than one with the old-fashioned, state-run industries that were in decline all over the world.
